Default Why can't I sell fame????

Ok, I've made a thread offering to sell fame to people who wish to get their HA rank. Now I know this is 'frowned' upon (prohibited on pain of ...... something nasty) but I believe this should be revoked. I can completely understand with codex points (dead hour resign farming) or GvG ladder manipulation however do NOT understand with HA rank.

The reasons being this:
- It is NOT an AFK service, and more a tutorial on how to win. It utilises the skills of experienced players to allow less experienced players to compete at a higher level
- Therefore in comparison to AFK vanquishing services I believe it is certainly a viable service
- Why should PvPers not be able to sell their service while experienced PvEers can sell themselves???? (ok sorry for the qq comment - but its true - maybe something to do with admin = PvEers opps, didnt just say that) JOKES
- Furthermore it is selling more than just the fame, it sells experience in high end PvP, knowledge of maps, tactics, everything that can then be utilised
- HA IS DEAD - it needs more players, if this creates 10 20 30 ANY more regular players it would be a great thing for HA
- its not against the EULA like GvG ladder fixing and stuff, it would NOT involve syncing teams etc.... however just using expert guidance to beat the scrubs that populate HA these days.

Reasons against it and counter argumenets:
- Scamming - true with all services
- QQing - leave bad feedback in thread and gg thread wont get customers so it is in the interest of the players running the service to be nice
- you should earn your HA title from success - THATS WHAT THYE WOULD BE DOING - it aint an AFK title like eternal vanquisher
- not enough demand - then who cares, it will be a dead thread anyways
- too many people offering it - comptetion = low prices = good for everyone except people running the threads i.e. not a reason to ban them
- Problem with people not being able to pay if get 50 consec.... true, but as I put in my clause there is a cap to the amount that 1 can pay per win, and winning halls = drop + key which will cover that
- people in HA qqing - LOL they will be glad to not have another timer restart
- it not working and team never winning - again = bad feedback = dead thread

Ive already had interest just minutes after submitting the thread, so there is a demand.

I believe those that know about the current HA situation would be happy to have an influx of new players and those that don't know anything about PvP should probably stay out of the discussion or at LEAST not say 'IT SHALL NOT BE DONE'.

If almost every PvE service can be offered or bought in the game. Isn't it fair and just that PvP services can be offered PROVIDED they do not breach the EULA (i.e. not champ poin farming and stuff).

ZOMG GONNA BE DHUUMSDAYED

anyways on a serious not, let me trial the thread, if its good feedback let me keep it, if it gets bad feedback, lots of rage or whatever /ban me or whatever, but at least give it a trial.

Excellent points made all around. What's the difference between paying someone to vanquish for you and paying someone to teach you how to play tombs? Let the guy sell his fame.

I'm for not banning people for selling hero points.
For standard, hardcore teams it should provide easy wins (those noobs buying the service shouldn't be hard to kill after all) while bringing some life to HA.

Face it: everything is on the market now, even place in gold-trimmed guild can be bought.

Ty for you support, it kinda make me feel all emotional, like we might make a difference..... lol, anyways.....

'for standard hardcore teams it should provide easy wins' in theory..... tho you underestimate the power or fame farming teams :P

Well, its against the rules for the Services Offered Forum, so maybe it might get changed

FIGHT THE SYSTEM DUDE!!!!
:P

Oh and another point :P I just look at each map as an 8 person vanquish kinda like vanquishing WiK areas :P similar skill sets so its BASICALLY like selling mini vanquishies
(ok thats a stupid argument ignore it)

Pretty sad state of affairs that. Some people take this game to seriously, still thats not really brand new information is it.

As for the OP, you make some valid points I dont really see the difference either but I guess best thing to do is maybe ask Anet about this rather then here.

sell it. this concept have been around for a long long time and people are doing it long time ago, it's just that some of the pvper don't wish to see it being publicized. quite some time ago some of my friends online did buy the service to get to a r3 just so they could start playing HA. now some have reached R9 on their own.

if there is a demand, there will be supply, u are providing a service that benefits the ones that wants it, win-win situation, no harm done

The challenge of HA is not the PVP skill itself, but the requirement to get started for most player, i think u are doing them a favor instead

Even if people want to put themselves at risk of getting scammed, there's still the matter of fame farming having a long history of sketchy service with sharing account details, and account information sharing is in violation of the EULA.

Fame Farming

In accordance with the Guild Wars EULA and account information sharing, Guild Wars Guru is prohibiting fame farming. While farming fame is technically not against the EULA, sharing account information for use of others IS against the EULA.

Over the past while, it has been repeatedly brought to the attention of Guru staff that people are requesting the account information of their clients in order to directly farm the fame. Up until more recently, there wasn't sufficient "evidence" to outlaw the activities, but it has come to the point where reports are plenty about certain farmers requesting account information, and then people getting ripped off.

As such, Fame Farming services are no longer allowed on Guru. Do not make any more threads selling or requesting this service!

If you notice your fame farming thread has disappeared, it is because it has been deleted. Do not create anymore. Further posting of these threads will just result in deletion.
